Inspired by immersing herself in Chinese culture, Anna Glynn’s horses saunter about the Surry Hills Library in downtown Sydney. The horse is shown in all of its glory; this magnificence animal is celebrated and bought to life by a uniquely talented Australian artist.Anna Glynn photo by Sharon Hickey
Anna is a contemporary multimedia artist, whose work includes painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, writing, music, sound, installation, film, animation and theatre.

“In my paintings I create dreamlike images that utilise the natural character of Chinese materials, generating a meeting between East and West, traditional and contemporary. I have spent extensive time in China developing this genre, fusing Chinese traditional ink painting techniques with a Western aesthetic.

In the year of the horse, for Sydney Chinese New Year Festival 2014, I am excited to present a selection of my paintings that include horses – an opportunity for them to gallop, glide and prance about.”

Her works fuse Chinese traditional ink painting techniques with a Western aesthetic, to create a poetic contemporary style.

If you are in Sydney you can view Anna’s work at the Surry Hills Library til February 28th
