Elise Hawthorne
By all accounts L’Wren Scott seemed to lead a charmed life. Her recent death was tragic but I’d like to celebrate her creative spirit in my style influencers’ series.
Born Laura Bambrough, L’Wren was an American model, stylist and fashion designer. Her designs were old school classics with a twist – always making the wearer look as glamorous as possible.
Her modelling years working for the likes of Chanel obviously left their creative mark and once she established her fashion label in 2006, leading movie stars and performers flocked to be seen in her designs.
Her eye for styling was finetuned, initially when working with iconic photographers such as Helmut Newton and Herb Ritts and later when collaborating with designer Karl Langerfeld and others.
L’Wren was a glamazon and by all accounts a lovely woman with a fun sense of humour; I only wish I’d had the good fortune to have met her.
