Last night driving home, I turned the corner and saw the moon.

There she was, sitting low in the sky, her big yellow face looking over at me.

A small band of dark cloud lay across the top of her, making her look like a shy schoolgirl. Above her, more dark cloud, but the reflection lit the edges in glowing white so it looked as though she was wearing a crown.

As I drove on, she followed me. I’d pass a building and she’d be hidden. Past some trees and she’d peer through their branches. Over a bridge and she’d cast out a ribbon of yellow light towards me.

All the way home she rode with me, her golden glow and smiling face a companion and a reminder of the beauty of the night.
