Australian ultra-marathon runner Pat Farmer is a thinker and a doer, all the best men are. His life is the definition of a man on a mission. Pat’s latest journey through the Middle East aims to increase awareness and promote tolerance. His Middle East Peace Run is kicking off on 1st May in Lebanon’s Valley of the Cedars.

Pat’s twenty day run for peace will take him from villages and cities in Lebanon to Jordan, the Dead Sea, then across the border into Israel, travelling through Tel Aviv and the old city of Jerusalem on to the Palestinian Territories.

“The purpose of the run is to unite all people through my footsteps regardless of borders and to encourage as many people as possible to simply run with me and not be concerned with what country any of us come from, but to simply draw on our commonality of love of running and humanity.”

Pat grew up in Granville in the western suburbs of Sydney; a very multicultural upbringing that gave him his first insight into the cultures and the peoples of the Middle East.

Pat wants the people in power to understand and be shown that the majority of ordinary people who lives in this part of the world and beyond want peace. Pat is a strong believer in the old idea that individuals can make a difference, ‘people power’ and I totally agree with him.

I admire Pat’s determination and resilience and I will be following his progress every inch of the way, I invite you to do the same.
