I first came across Jeff Strozer’s beautiful photos via facebook which was very convenient as we live half a world away from each other.

Jeff’s photos capture the natural environment in all its beauty and he not only has an artist’s eye for balance, light and symmetry he also uses modern techniques to enhance the viewing experience.

He first became interested in photography at about the age of 4 and always loved to explore the art of colour, composition, subject and light.  Jeff says, “My style is that of turning an image into a living art and to allow the viewer to become an imagined part of the art.  It is an illusion of the mind as the piece is viewed.

I want to capture the viewer within the photograph and allow no escape; if I can create an image that does not allow escape I have created a lasting impression on the viewer’s mind

as well as the heart.  The image will always continue to live and exist for that viewer.”

Artistic influences can come via many avenues, Jeff’s comes from his natural surroundings; the beauty of images that achieve depth, strike the heart as well as the mind.

Jeff believes that iconic photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams had this ability as well as the old art masters. “When you viewed their works, you became part of the image within your mind.  Because of their extreme ability to capture you as the viewer, your mind placed your heart and soul into the image and you became one with the work.”

“To see, feel, taste, touch, hear, smell and learn is what draws me to photography. The ability to live and enjoy the endless amounts of beauty, colour, perspective, composition, subjects and creativity is my joy in life.  Feeling the thoughts of nature and subjects allows me to see the world from many different and wonderful views and concepts.  I want to be able to share what I feel with all who are interested and may enjoy what I have to say.  Each photograph is a story into the souls of all.”

Jeff has had showings in Los Angeles, New York and Paris. He will continue to utilise both film and digital photography systems as they both provide different advantages in achieving his goals.  Jeff always carries a camera with him as there is always a subject within range.  He enjoys taking candid shots but also likes staging subjects.  The most important aspect of what he enjoys in photography is light; how it plays on the subject to enhance and increase the importance of that subject.

“My ultimate want is to create an image that will last throughout time as a recognized focal point.”  You have certainly delighted my senses Jeff, thank you.
